Some Thoughts

Try this out:

Ordinary Objects -----

"I've seen a lot of magic books that teach you how to make magic with ordinary objects"

while saying this pull out a pack of playing cards and some coins

"Hmm..." hold card box next to ear and shake it "ordinary objects in magic books usually mean no playing cards or coin tricks"

"I guess playing poker is suspicious or something...look that guy over there has some cards out! I don't trust him, let's move down the bar or to another table"

"Coins...do you have any coins in your pocket right now?"

the person probably does and you can borrow one or more and do a little trick with those or you can go into some tricks with your own cards & coins because you have just made the items "safe" to the mind(s) of the spectator(s)!
